In 1970, the "RedTail" was Kwajalein's major link with the outside world.  The Military Air Command, MAC, contracted with Northwest Orient Airlines - whose planes bore the characteristic RED vertical stabilizer - to fly passengers and cargo three times each week.  (The rest of the story - Kwajaletter Winter 2008 page 3)
